Service /Website redesign, Sydney
Website redesign in Sydney, without losing your Google rankings.
The short version
We rebuild slow, dated or hard-to-edit websites for Sydney businesses, from $1,990 + GST, usually in two to six weeks. The biggest risk in any redesign is losing the rankings you already have, so we redirect every old page to its new home before launch.
Not sure yours needs it? Run the free website check. If your site works well, we’ll tell you so.
Signs your website is due for a redesign
A dated look on its own isn’t a good enough reason. These are the problems that cost you customers.
- It’s slow on phones. Google’s “good” mark for main content loading is within 2.5 seconds. Our free check measures this for you.
- It’s awkward on a small screen. Visitors have to pinch, zoom or hunt for your phone number.
- Visitors don’t get in touch. People arrive, but the page doesn’t make the next step clear.
- You can’t update it. Changing a price or a photo means waiting on someone else.
- It no longer reflects your business. Your services or customers have changed, and the site hasn’t.
- You’re stuck on the platform. You keep paying for add-ons, or you can’t take the site with you.
Should you rebuild or just fix it?
A full rebuild isn’t always the right call. If the foundations are sound, a few targeted fixes are cheaper and faster.
| What you’re seeing | What usually fixes it | Full rebuild? |
|---|---|---|
| A few pages are out of date, but the site works | Edit those pages | No |
| Enquiries are low but traffic is healthy | Fix the wording, offer and calls to action first | Not yet |
| The site is slow, but the design is fine | Speed work: images, scripts and plugins | Maybe |
| It’s hard to use on a phone | A new mobile-first layout | Usually |
| Every small change means calling someone | A simple way to edit your own content | Usually |
| You’ve outgrown the platform, or the costs keep climbing | A new build you own | Yes |
How we protect your Google rankings
Redesigns lose rankings when pages disappear or their addresses change with nothing pointing to the new ones. This is the process we follow, based on Google’s own guidance on site moves.
-
List every page that matters
We pull your pages from Search Console, analytics and a full crawl of the site, then mark the ones that bring in traffic, enquiries or links.
-
Match each old address to its new home
Every old page gets pointed at the closest new page. Google specifically warns against sending many old addresses to one unrelated page, such as the home page.
-
Use permanent redirects
Google recommends permanent server-side redirects such as 301s, and says they don’t cause a loss in PageRank. Redirects stay in place for at least a year, as Google advises.
-
Keep what’s already working
Page titles, headings and content that rank don’t get rewritten just because the design is changing. We improve them only where there’s a clear reason.
-
Test before anything goes live
Forms, phone links, bookings and payments are all checked on a phone and a computer, along with speed and every redirect on the list.
-
Watch it after launch
We submit the new sitemap, then check Search Console for errors and missing pages. Rankings can move around for a few weeks while Google works through the change.
What a website redesign costs
Rebuilds use the same packages as new sites, with moving your content and setting up redirects as part of the job. Prices exclude GST. For wider market prices, see our guide to website costs in Sydney.

Questions
Will I lose my Google rankings if I redesign my website?
You can, if old addresses aren’t redirected or pages that rank get removed. Keep the pages that bring in traffic and point each old address at its closest new page with a permanent 301 redirect. Google says those redirects don’t cause a loss in PageRank. Rankings can still move around for a few weeks while Google processes the change.
How much does a website redesign cost in Sydney?
Most Sydney small businesses pay $2,000 to $7,000 for a professionally built website, and a rebuild usually costs about the same as a new site. Our packages start from $1,990 + GST, and you get a fixed quote in writing after a free concept.
How long does a website redesign take?
Most small business rebuilds take two to six weeks, depending on the number of pages and features. Online stores sit at the longer end. Your current site stays live until the new one is ready.
Should I redesign my website or just fix it?
If your site is fast, works well on phones and brings in enquiries, fix the specific problems rather than starting again. Rebuild when the problems are built in, such as a poor mobile layout, slow pages you can’t speed up, or a platform you’ve outgrown. Our free website check is a good first step.
Can you redesign a Wix or Squarespace site?
Yes. We rebuild the site and move your content across, then redirect the old addresses. Wix doesn’t support moving a site to another host, so a Wix site is always rebuilt rather than transferred. Your domain name can stay the same.
Will my email stop working when the website changes?
It shouldn’t. Business email usually runs separately from the website. We check your domain’s settings before changing anything, so your email keeps working through the switch.
